What Has Been Wrung

Scavenged, scrapped together and bound by the remains of the Wasteland, a veil befitting of those whose hearts yearn for answers to quintessential questions of the ages. Questions such as, “Why am I here?” “What should I do now?” And “Why does every type of glue suck?”

The Scientists’ mask from the Giants music video, in form realized from methods befitting of the Wasteland: Scavenged from cardboard, miscellaneous parts such as computer wiring, car hose and plastic drink containers, and a lot of paint and glue. The nifty bucket backpack is perfect for your foraging needs, so long as the lid stays on and the bucket doesn’t tilt backward, of course. Results may vary on that front.

I’ve always enjoyed a nice mask, and the design of the titular garb from the Giants video spoke to me. The journey of Sunya is one that resonates with my own feelings and eras of self discovery, and this album has become dear and sentimental to me. If I elaborated further I’d go on for eons, but all this to say I wanted to do something to express my appreciation for this world and music. This was my first attempt at something like this and I’m proud it got to be for this story. I learned a lot about crafting and design from this, and I hope I can continue to utilize that knowledge gained. Like the album and world itself, it stoked a dwindling flame of creativity I’d been desperately trying to reconnect with, and for that I am grateful.
